Squats to Scroll ("we," "our," or "the app") is operated by Tully O'Leary, based in Minnesota, United States. This policy explains what data exists on your device, what leaves it (very little), and your rights.
The app does not require or offer account creation. There is no username, no password, no authentication. You open the app and use it.
Optional email. You may choose to give us your email address to receive our short how-to email series and occasional product updates ("the field guide"). This is entirely optional and skippable, and the app works identically without it. If you do, your email address is stored with our email provider (Loops.so) and used only to send you those emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can request deletion of your email address at any time by contacting us or unsubscribing. We never sell or share your email address.
The app uses your device camera solely for on-device pose detection to count squat repetitions. Camera processing is performed entirely on your device. Specifically:
To block apps, the app needs to know which apps you have chosen to guard and when one of them is opened. How much more than that it can see depends on your platform, and we describe both below. The detailed record, including your per-app usage and your minute-by-minute activity, stays on your device. A small, specific summary is sent to our analytics provider so we can tell whether the app is actually working. We spell out exactly what that includes, because "anonymous analytics" is too vague to mean anything.
We do not use screen-time data for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it with data brokers. We do use the summary above as analytics, to see whether blocks lead to squats and which apps people struggle with most, because that is how the app gets better.
The app tracks your squat activity locally to provide features like streak tracking, daily counts, and walk equivalence calculations:
Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat to confirm your purchase status:
We do not serve ads. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not use device identifiers for advertising purposes.
We use PostHog for product analytics, under an anonymous device-generated ID created on your device when you first open the app. It records how the app is used: onboarding steps completed, block screens shown and cleared, squats completed, streak length, daily totals, and which of our listed apps a block involved (see Section 3). It does not identify you personally, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. Session recording and automatic screen capture are switched off.
If you give us your email address, it is stored with our email provider so we can send you the emails you asked for. Your email address is never sent to our analytics provider or attached to your analytics events.
This policy covers our website as well as the app. The website is a separate surface running separate tools, and it collects less than the app does.
We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not share data with data brokers. On iOS, we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track.
Squats to Scroll is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

For California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To request deletion, email us.
For EU/EEA residents (GDPR): Our legal basis is your consent for camera access and for marketing email, and legitimate interest for the limited product analytics described in Section 3, which we rely on to keep the app working. Most of your data never leaves your device, and uninstalling deletes it. For the data our providers do hold, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port it. Email us and we will action the request. For your email address we can act immediately. For analytics events, which carry only an anonymous device ID and no name or email, we will need that ID in order to find your records, and we will tell you how to retrieve it.
Data stored on your device is kept until you uninstall the app, which deletes it. Analytics events held by PostHog are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted. Website analytics events held by HeyCatch are kept while our account with them is active, and are deleted or irreversibly anonymised within two months of it ending. Your email address is kept by our email provider until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Purchase records are kept for as long as your purchase is active, plus the period our payment providers are required to retain transaction records.
Data on your device is protected by your device's own security, including its lock screen and encryption. The limited data described in Section 9 is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored by established providers under their own security programs. We keep no servers or databases of our own, which keeps the amount of your data we could ever expose very small, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. The "Effective Date" at the top will be updated accordingly.
